Why we publish every certificate
Gluten-free is a label anyone can put on a social media account, on a website, on a package. Most don't earn it.
Skinny Genie is one of a very small number of food manufacturers in the GCC that has earned every major food safety, allergen, and ethical certification available to a producer of our size. Seven separate independent bodies have audited or recognised our dedicated production facility in Al Quoz, Dubai. Each one issues the same verdict: this is real gluten-free, real vegan, real halal, real food safety, made right here in the Emirates.
Every ingredient and every batch in our facility is laboratory-tested using ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) methodology — the gold-standard worldwide method for detecting gluten — to verify gluten content below 5 parts per million, significantly stricter than the regulatory threshold of 20 ppm. We are the only Gluten free manufacturer in the GCC to operate our own in-house ELISA testing lab, so ingredients are checked on receipt before we accept them, and finished batches are tested before release.

The AOECS standard is the most rigorous gluten-free certification in the world. Our production processes, raw material sourcing, cleaning protocols, and cross-contact controls are audited annually by SGS, one of the world's largest independent testing and certification bodies.
For someone with coeliac disease, this is the certification that matters most. The Crossed Grain Trademark and Coeliac UK's "live well gluten free" mark are what Coeliac UK members are taught to look for at the point of sale. You'll find them on our breads, pizzas, pastries, and every other Skinny Genie product.

Vegan Australia Certified is one of the most respected international vegan certification schemes. To earn it, every certified product is reviewed for ingredients, processing methods, and supply chain to confirm there is no animal-derived content anywhere in production. Forty-five of our products carry the certification — from our vegan breads and pizza bases to our brownies, protein balls and energy bars, vegan cheeses, and tiramisu.

Every Skinny Genie product is certified Halal under three internationally recognised standards: the UAE national standard, the Gulf Standardisation Organisation standard, and the OIC/SMIIC 1:2019 General Requirements for Halal Food. The Made in the Emirates mark is the UAE national designation for products genuinely manufactured within the country, issued directly by the Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology. Skinny Genie's licence is granted under the Halal National Mark sector — the highest tier of the programme — certifying that our products are both locally manufactured in the Emirates and compliant with the UAE Halal national standard.
Every Skinny Genie product is produced entirely in the United Arab Emirates: raw material handling, baking, packaging, and dispatch all happen at our Al Quoz facility. For UAE customers and government buyers who actively choose locally-made products, this is the credential that confirms every loaf, brownie, and wrap was made here at home, under UAE Government oversight.

Dubai Municipality publishes a grade for every licensed food establishment in the Emirate, ranging from A (excellent) to D. Skinny Genie holds a Grade A Gold rating — the highest possible. It is awarded only after physical inspection by Dubai Municipality food safety officers.

ISO 22000:2018 is the international standard for food safety management systems, developed by the International Organization for Standardization. It certifies that we have documented, audited, and continuously monitored controls across every stage of production — from raw material receipt to dispatch. Achieving ISO 22000 requires the same management discipline applied at major industrial food manufacturers, applied to a small artisan bakery.

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a systematic preventive approach to food safety, developed in collaboration with NASA and now adopted as global best practice. Our HACCP plan identifies every potential biological, chemical, and physical hazard in our production process, and defines the controls used to prevent them. We have been HACCP-certified continuously since 2017 — nearly a decade of unbroken compliance.
Together with ISO 22000, this is the certification that makes Skinny Genie eligible for major wholesale and institutional supply contracts across the GCC.

Our Production Facility
All Skinny Genie products are produced at our dedicated gluten-free facility in Al Quoz Industrial Area 3, Dubai (Building No. 59, Warehouse No. 1, 28B Street). Our facility produces no gluten-containing products — eliminating the risk of cross-contact at the source.
This is a defining feature of our operation. Most bakeries that claim gluten-free items actually produce them on the same equipment or in the same airspace as wheat-based products. We do not. Skinny Genie is a 100% dedicated gluten-free facility. Skinny Genie Bakery L.L.C is a registered industrial manufacturer licensed by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, holding UAE Industrial Production License IL030645.

Is Skinny Genie safe for people with coeliac disease?
Yes. Every Skinny Genie product is produced in a dedicated 100% gluten-free facility, no wheat, rye, barley, or gluten-containing oats are present on the premises. Every batch is verified using ELISA testing in our in-house lab to confirm gluten content below 5 parts per million, significantly stricter than the international 20 ppm threshold. We hold AOECS certification (licence CUK-G-145) from Coeliac UK, audited annually by SGS.
Are all Skinny Genie products vegan?
No. Forty-five (45) of our products are certified vegan by Vegan Australia under certification 18096. Other products contain dairy, eggs, or honey. Each product page lists ingredients and allergens clearly. Browse our certified vegan range to filter to plant-based products only.
Are all Skinny Genie products halal?
Yes. Every Skinny Genie product is certified Halal by International Halal Certification under three standards: UAE.S 2055-1:2015, GSO 2055-1:2015, and OIC/SMIIC 1:2019. Our certificate is valid through 16 April 2029.
What is ELISA testing and why does it matter?
ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) is the laboratory technique used worldwide to measure gluten content in food. We invested in our own ELISA testing lab so we don't have to send samples to external laboratories and wait days for results. Every incoming ingredient is tested before we accept it. Every batch of finished product is tested before we release it for sale. We are the only gluten free manufacturer operating with this level of in-house verification.

What's the difference between Coeliac UK certification and AOECS certification?
They are the same scheme. AOECS (the Association of European Coeliac Societies) is the umbrella body that sets the standard. Coeliac UK is the national member that administers the licence in the UK and the Crossed Grain Trademark you'll see on packs. Our licence (CUK-G-145) is issued through Coeliac UK and audited by SGS.
Are your products safe for school lunchboxes and children with food allergies?
Yes. Because our facility is dedicated 100% gluten-free with ELISA testing of every batch, Skinny Genie products are widely chosen by parents of children with coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity. Every product is also halal-certified. Vegan options are clearly labelled.
